Do You Feel Like You’re A Failure And A Bad Muslim?
Assalamu alaykum My Dear Sister,
If you are reading this, perhaps your heart feels heavy?
Maybe mornings feel awful?
Maybe you feel anchored to your bed because the world is too sharp and demanding?
Maybe you’ve thought: “What's wrong with me? Why can’t I just be stronger? Is Allah punishing me?”
I want to say this to you with love:
You are not a bad Muslim. You are not a failure. You are a soul carrying something heavy — and you deserve support, not shame.

How This Course Will Help You HealÂ
Understand Your Depression
Â
-
Learn to recognise the signs of depression as a medical illness, not a weakness of iman — and how to tell the difference between normal sadness and clinical depression.
-
Discover the three blood tests to request from your GP (family doctor) to rule out hidden deficiencies and hormonal imbalances that mimic or worsen depression.
-
Free yourself from guilt: you’ll see that even the Prophets (PBUT) faced deep sorrow, and that what you’re going through is part of being human — not a punishment from Allah.

Maryam, London
"I really enjoyed this course... I felt hopeful that things can get better and that what's happened to me is not because Allah is displeased with me."
Find The Right Support
Â
-
Understand the treatments available — including medication and therapy — explained simply, so you can make clear and confident choices.
-
Learn about the different types of therapy from CBT to EMDR and how to choose the right therapist so you don’t waste months (and money) on someone who isn’t a good fit for you.
-
Discover why seeking help is an act of iman and self-care, not a sign of being ungrateful to Allah — giving you permission to take that brave step.

Aliya Vaughan, author, London
"This series is gently and reassuringly delivered by a practising female Muslim who is also a qualified GP. Each video is accompanied with easy to follow exercises to help you put knowledge into practice."
Lift Your Mood Through Simple Habits
Â
-
See how food and nutrition influence mood, with clear guidance on what supports mental health and what can make symptoms worse.
-
Practical steps to improve your sleep, including a simple topical spray that research shows can noticeably improve sleep quality.
-
Discover small, realistic ways to build energy and calm — from simple breathing exercises you can do anytime to gentle walks in nature.Â

Naureen, London
"It provides the kind of insightful, faith-aligned advice that you simply wouldn’t receive in a standard ten-minute GP appointment."
Strengthen Your Iman While You Heal
Â
-
Discover what true sabr means — and what it doesn’t — so you can let go of guilt and embrace healthy, hopeful endurance.
-
Learn how to use Quran, dua and salah as tools for comfort and healing, not just obligations to push through.
-
Leave with a renewed sense of connection to Allah, knowing you are never alone — your struggles are seen, honoured and held with compassion.

Luthfun, London
"I loved how the Sunnah was woven into all four stages... It helped me understand depression better and gave me the space to pause and reflect on my mental well-being and my connection with Allah."

Why I Created This Course
Â
For over 20 years, I’ve helped Muslim women heal from mental illness - as a GP, therapist and sister in Islam. Again and again, I saw the same pain:
Â
-
Being told depression is a punishment from Allah or a sign of weak iman.
-
Trying therapy but finding nothing with an Islamic framework.
-
Feeling ashamed, unseen and carrying far too much alone.
Â
With this in mind, in 2016, I co-designed and delivered the very first Islam-based therapy (CBT) programme for the UK NHS (National Health Service) — blending clinical psychology and modern medicine with Islamic knowledge. It was a groundbreaking programme which showed that healing from mental illness is quicker and deeper when it combines science and the Sunnah.
Â
But I knew our community needed even more: a resource that went beyond clinics and therapy rooms, one that any Muslim woman could safely access in her own time, in her own space, without shame, judgment or guilt.Â
Â
This is why I created the 4 Steps To Heal Depression With Science And Sunnah course.

Frequently Asked Questions
Â
Q1. Who is this course for?
It’s made for Muslim women who are feeling low, depressed or overwhelmed and want to heal in a way that combines both science and Islam. If you’re not Muslim, you're still welcome to join the course. You’ll still benefit from the science, psychology and spirituality — you may just find some of the Islamic references less relevant.
Â
Q2. How is the course delivered?
All online. 24 short video lessons, (5 hours total) with simple practical activities. You can watch anytime, on any device, at your own pace. You get lifetime access.
Â
Q3. What language is it in?
English.
Â
Q4. How long are the lessons?
Most of the lessons are 10-15 minutes long, just enough to learn something useful without feeling overwhelmed.
Â
Q5. Will there be homework?
Not in the heavy sense. After most videos, you’ll get a small practical activity or journaling prompt to help you apply what you’ve just learned. It's not a test, but something to apply the content to your own personal circumstances.
Â
Q6. Is this a replacement for therapy or medical care?
No. Think of it as a companion. It can sit alongside therapy, GP visits, or medication — but it isn’t a substitute. Even though this course is delivered by myself, a GP, it does not constitute medical advice. Only doctors with access to your full medical records and history can give you medical advice.Â
Â
Q7. What if I buy it and it doesn’t help me?
If you complete the course and do the exercises but don’t feel it has helped you, you can request a full refund within 30 days of purchase.
Â
Q8. Will I be able to contact Dr Zakia directly if I buy this course?
This course is a self-study course. While I can’t give you personal advice as part of this course, I am present throughout the lessons. You are also welcome to join Hope Cave’s private community spaces on WhatsApp and Telegram for extra support.
Â
Q9. How much does it cost?
The course is £198 — less than the price of a two hour therapy session. However, if you subscribe to the Hope Cave email list, you can enrol on the course for £99 for a limited time. Fill out your details below.
